If you can’t move something, be it a big couch or a built in, be sure to cover it up with a sheet or drop cloth. It’s also important to remove all window dressings and security sensors as they will get in the way of the work and potentially be damaged. If you’re doing your windows replacement around a holiday, don’t forget to take down any wreaths or other outdoor decorations. 
4. Be Ready For Mess– While windows replacements might not make as big of a mess as other home improvement projects, you should expect some! Taking out old windows and installing replacement vinyl windows means lots of scraping, gluing, sanding, drywall patching and even painting, so you’re sure to see wet paint and dry paint as well as dust on the floors, windows, surrounding furniture and even outside.
